Eline Haias is a pure-blood human and the dean of Mistyshore University. Her husband is Huan Sairofe, the Priest of Water in Mistyshore.

Appearance[]

Eline appears as an older woman, with light skin tone and short light-brown hair. She wears a long black dress, short purplish gloves and a purple neck-piece that she wears over the dress. The neck-piece seems to come with a hood, and partially covers her arms, having furry endings on the arm-extensions.

Personality[]

She has a rather strict and matter-of-fact personality. She appears to like reading books, and is not surprised easily.

She had a secret deal with Rana Reimia involving her nephew Ran's graduation, and she does not seem to have great expectations about Ran.

Notes[]

  • She has the same last name as Anna Haias; their exact relationship is unknown at this time.
  • She is the former Priest of Resurrection.

Plot[]

History[]

Before the N0 Cataclysm she was the #3-ranked magician on planet Willarv, a triple-visnu, and the Priest of Resurrection. The two best magicians died during the Cataclysm and she would have gained the #1 ranking, but because Visnu disappeared and Asvins replaced him with a far weaker jurisdiction, she is currently ranked #22 as a triple-asvins.

Chapter 9: Rival[]

(2) Eline, revealed to be the Dean of Mistyshore Universty, interrupts a conversation between Huan Sairofe and Rana Reimia regarding Rana sending Ran on an alternative quest for his graduation. She says that Rana must be worried since she is getting older with no signs of Ran graduating soon, and that by the time he does graduate, the conditions they set may no longer be valid. When Huan asks Eline if she made a bet with Rana, Eline just says that she'll tell him after Ran graduates. Rana reveals to Eline and Huan she isn't afraid for Ran's safety as he will be accompanying Asha. The Sairofes surmise that Asha must have business on the other side of the sea at Eloth, Kalibloom, or Aeroplateau, and is using the water channel as a detour due to the Gandharva clan going wild, therefore would need a tripe water-attribute magician like Ran. However, Eline has trouble understanding why Asha would choose Ran to navigating the water channel as it usually requires a smart magician, which Ran is not. The discussion is interrupted by a messenger announcing an urgent correspondence from Atera.

(6) In the early hours of the 3rd day of the 12 month of year N15, Ran writes to Rana that he has already visited his aunt and uncle to say his goodbyes before going on his quest.

Season 3[]

Chapter 35: Return[]

(2) Eline tells Rana that the only solution to her childcare crisis is to persuade Ran to return to the priest position so that her husband Huan, now wearing a full beard, can retire and become the babysitter.

Chapter 41: Your Seven Years[]

(1) Anne Sairofe gets sent to do her homework at Eline's lab when her room is in no state for work. When Anne insists that she can't visit her great-aunt without bringing a present, Rana gives her some money to buy one.

(2) In a flashback to the Cataclysm of N0, Eline and a hooded figure approach a young Claude Yui trapped under stone slab amongst some rubble. Claude asks them to resurrect his sister, Airi Yui, instead of saving him. Eline explains to the hooded figure that his sister died in an accident five years ago, and Claude had asked Eline to revive her at the time. Claude adds that she refused because he did not have the money to afford it.

The hooded figure reveals that those who were resurrected were not their true selves, and Eline used the spell only reluctantly because she knew it. The hooded figure goes on to explain that in the past, a soul that died before the end of its set lifespan would remain in the human realm until its name was processed, and hoti vishnu could return the soul to its revived body. But thanks to a certain nastika who destroyed those souls, the gods changed the rules so that souls go immediately to the underworld upon death, where even Vishnu's powers cannot reach. Eline adds that most of the top-ranked magicians already know of this.

Claude continues to wish for the revival, since he concludes that as long as the revived person acts the same way in all aspects, he can love them just the same. The hooded figure concedes and they decide they will claim that Eline revived the girl, that her death happened on this day, and anyone who knows of her will need to coordinate their cover stories. When Claude asks Eline to take care of his sister since he is dying, the hooded figure tells him to take care of her himself, and extends his lifespan to 200 years, within which time the boy will repay them.

Eline later successfully informs Agwen Rajof, but she fails to inform Teo Rakan, who was secretly friends with Airi.[1]

(4) Back in the current time, Rana decides to go to Kalibloom and leaves her children in the Eline's care.

Chapter 44: The Meaning of Revenge[]

(6) Teo Rakan asks Ran Sairofe to confirm the rumors about hoti visnu, since she assumes he would be in the know because of his relation to Eline.

Chapter 47: Words That Never Reached You[]

(5) Brilith Ruin and Ran Sairofe get into a fight, Agni drains Brilith's vigor to stop her, making her fall asleep. In the Temple of Water, Eline watches over Brilith and gives medication to her that is to keep her in that state for longer. She is present when Ran speaks of how he heard that someone would come to take the souls of his children, which was why he tried to take them away from Mistyshore.

(6) Laila Hemawati discusses Airi's revival with Eline, who admits that she once considered the soul as simply a power source, but due to the situation with Ran's children, it is a much more complicated matter. Eline did not recognize the cloaked figure that ensured the revival. She also clarifies that since the children were born N17-N18, the souls they had would be of people who died in N15-N16. Although many died in those years, only two of them were important enough to warrant stealing their soul.

(8) Lorraine Rartia comes to Mistyshore asking Eline to allow her to kill the Sairofe children before their souls get used for evil purposes. Eline refuses and Agni appears and enforces her decision.

(9) Agni feels that something is wrong with Brilith and returns to her side. It would seem that Brilith was rewinded back to the state before her awakening. Agni and Eline discuss what happened to her. Lorraine suggests Asha may have used hoti visnu to turn back her time. Eline states that Asha is not in the checkpoint entry records, but Lorraine theorizes that Asha may be capable of passing through the barrier.

Agni suggests that if Asha was the one to attack Brilith in Kalibloom, then it must mean she is in league with Siera Sies, who warned Agni about the attack. Eline tells Lorraine about the fragment experiment and that Siera volunteered for it, but Lorraine is surprised, saying that this is not how it happened in the future she saw and someone must have persuaded Siera to do it. Eline is confused, and Lorraine explains that she has learned a lot these past seven years, and so have the Anantas who disappeared, and her goal is to prevent the soul from being used for an evil purpose—as a vessel for Ananta's true resurrection. Eline states that Ran had the same goal, and arrived before she did. Lorraine is in disbelief that Ran is on the planet right now.

(13) Lorraine tells Eline and Agni that the information that she knew has changed now, since Ran should have no knowledge about the soul. Eline asks her if the soul is Saha's. Lorraine doubts it and clarifies that she is acting with the purpose of ruining Asha's plans in any way she can. She then states that the soul is probably Teo's, or there could be multiple souls targeted.

(15) Brilith finishes helping the Sairofe children with their homework. Eline notes that Brilith has become close to the children, who seem to no longer care that she attacked their father earlier. Brilith still claims that she has no memory of the incident. Eline suggests that she go to sleep for a while to restore her vigor instead of worrying.

(20) Eline tries to wake up a sleeping Brilith because letters have arrived from three cities stating that they are under attack.

Chapter 48: Separation[]

(3) Lorraine and Agni are discussing if someone could have used a mental transcendental to make Brilith attack Ran. Eline interrupts the meeting to tell Agni that Chandra had left to aid Atera. Lorraine is aghast, saying that Kalibloom and Mistyshore were the cities that needed protection the most. Eline tells her that Kalibloom had plenty of defenders and that Chandra probably thought that they were enough.

Lorraine presses that the soul candidates and those with the power of the name must not fall into the hands of the suras, as that was what the suras need in order to realize the resurrection of Ananta. As they list the soul candidates, Ran's children and Leny, Lorraine reveals that Ran is also a candidate and there is one more still.

(13) Eline and Lorraine discuss the grave situation in Atera, where a Taraka portal has opened, and they agree to keep the information secret from Brilith.

(16)(17) Through-out the attacks, Anne is to stay with Eline in the main building. Eline falls under the effect of a mental transcendental of Chatan and attempts to lead Anne out of the city. She is confronted by Lorraine Rartia.

(18) Lorraine and Eline fight using magic. Lorraine is able to use Bhavati Brahma slightly faster than Eline manages to seal it with Bhavati Asvins, her specialty. And thus, Eline gets fused with a rock, but since she has hoti asvins hoti kubera active, she keeps on regenerating and does not die.

Lorraine tries to get Anne to leave with her, but Anne is horrified. Chatan comes out.

(19) Several priest candidates run up to the scene, attempt to help Eline, and try to convince Lorraine to undo her spell. Lorraine tells them that Eline is under the control of a mental transcendental. Though the magicians believe this to be possible, they suggest that in such a case, which person is the one under the control is uncertain. They ask Anne who was acting strange among Eline and Lorraine, Anne points out Lorraine with certainty.

Chatan attacks and Lorraine casts her magic to stop him, telling the others to run away.
