There are priests who go around wearing animal suits. Fashion starts with defying the stereotype.

Huan Sairofe is a pure-blood and the Priest of Water in Mistyshore. His wife is Eline Haias. He is Lutz and Ran's uncle.

Appearance[]

Huan appears as an older man with slightly tanned skin tone. He has curly brown hair and a brown mustache. He carries a light blue staff with a blue stone inside a wheel-like circle on the top. He has a penchant for wearing a variety of animal suits, such as a pink bunny,[2] a gray lizard-like monster,[2] a fish,[3] and an angry pink bear.[4]

Currygom always depicts his face with his eyes shaded.

Personality[]

Huan does not seem to mind wearing awkward-looking clothing. He often falls asleep during work.

He is fond of his nephew Ran and often takes his side during discussions with other people, including his wife.

He seems to love children and would like to retire and become a full-time babysitter for his Ran's children.

Notes[]

  • Both Huan and his nephew Ran have triple Varuna (water) attributes.
  • He wears an outfit created by the Sabitri brand,[5] which might be why Lorraine Rartia considers it to be a kiddie brand.[6]

Plot[]

History[]

In the year D999, when Ran was first enrolled in Mistyshore's Public Academy of Magic, Huan persuaded the school personnel to allow his nephew to keep his hair long if he kept it in a braid. He wore a full pink bunny suit with the price tag still dangling from the hood. When Ran spotted Rana Reimia among the students, Huan noticed he was smitten, but warned him they cannot become more than friends since she was a pure-blood human, not a quarter like him.[2]

Season 1[]

Chapter 8: The Wavering King[]

(6) When Ran receives his most recent failing grade in Topology, he imagines his uncle, wearing a pink bunny hat, good-naturedly crushing his report card.

Chapter 9: Rival[]

(2) In a flashback to D999, Huan mediates with the teachers of Mistyshore Public Academy of Magic to let Ran keep his beloved long hair. Ungrateful, Ran talks back why a Priest such as Huan is wasting his time to go to his nephew's entrance ceremony when he could have hired someone else. Huan turns around to show-off the tag of his brand new bunny suit. When he sees Ran fall for Rana at first sight, Huan, knowing Rana's a pureblooded human, advises his nephew look for a quarter such as him, or to wait 20 years before finding a girl. Although he understands the reason behind his uncle's advice, Ran still insists on befriending Rana.

Back in the present, Huan (in a gray-blue monster suit) learns from Rana that Ran will be going on a graduation quest, and proclaims it is about time as his nephew was never good at academics. He also learns that Rana and his wife Eline have some sort of deal regarding Ran's graduation when Eline interrupts to say that Rana must be worried since she is getting older with no signs of Ran graduating soon, therefore by the time he does graduate, the conditions they set may no longer be valid. When Huan asks to clarify what their deal is, Eline just says that she'll tell him after Ran graduates. Rana reveals to Eline and Huan she isn't afraid for Ran's safety as he will be accompanying Asha. Huan comments that Asha must have business on the other side of the sea at Eloth, Kalibloom, or Aeroplateau, and is using the water channel as a detour due to the Gandharva clan going wild, therefore would need a tripe water-attribute magician like Ran. However, Eline has trouble understanding why Asha would choose Ran to navigating the water channel as it usually requires a smart magician, which Ran is not. The discussion is interrupted by a messenger announcing an urgent correspondence from Atera.

(3) In the year D1000/N0, Hana asks her son how he's liking the Academy. When Ran releases all his frustration and dislike for the school and the people there, Hana points out the he never skipped a single day. Hana suddenly brings up Rana and how she's pretty. Ran perks up before realizing how his mother would know that; Hana exclaims of a meat buffet as a distraction. Unwilling to drop the matter, Ran speculates it was his uncle who told her and reaffirms that him and Rana are nothing but friends. Hana clarifies she doesn't feel the same way for the matter as Huan does because her parents, a nastika and quarter, are even more different.

(6) In the early hours of the 3rd day of the 12 month of year N15, Ran writes to Rana that he has already visited his aunt and uncle to say his goodbyes before going on his quest.

Chapter 11: The Power of the Name[]

(1) Lorraine uses Huan as an example of a Priest who, with his eccentric animal suits, rejects the stereotypical image of someone of his position in defense of Brilith's chosen choice of outfit when Airi criticizes how inappropriate it is.

Season 2[]

Chapter 30: Falling Petals[]

(4) When Rana Reimia arrives in Aeroplateau for the trial of Asha Rahiro, she explains that Huan and Eline are keeping an eye on Mistyshore so she, as a high-ranked magician, came in their stead.

Season 3[]

Chapter 35: Return[]

3-003 Huan at work

(2) Eline tells Rana that the only solution to her childcare crisis is to persuade Ran to return to the priest position so that her husband Huan, now wearing a full beard, can retire and become the babysitter.

(3) At the Temple of Water, three priest candidates fuss over Huan in a pink bear suit, who appears to have passed out because of the impact of a tidal wave on the barrier, which was quickly repaired. It is soon revealed that he was only asleep. The magicians discuss that it would be good if Ran Sairofe took the mantle as the priest of water.

Chapter 48: Separation[]

(16)(21) During the N23 attack on all cities, Huan is holding the barrier stone in the Temple of Water. He is also watching over his grandchildren, Ten and Kan Sairofe. Although Sagara infiltrates the city and attempts to access the room, she ultimately fails and the room is undisturbed.
