Urvasi is a nastika of the Gandharva clan. His current status is unknown.

Appearance[]

In his human form, Urvasi appears as a man with slightly purplish tinted skin. He has medium length hair that is a gradient from light periwinkle blue to purple at the ends, blue eyebrows and pale purple eyes. On his left ear he has two round blue earrings and there are two thin reddish-brown straps visible around his neck that are attached to his shirt. His outfit is composed of a dark reddish-brown shirt, dark brown trousers, and black shoes. He wears an open pink beige cardigan with wide sleeves over his shirt.

In female form, her hair is still short and a mixture of blue and pink. Her face is described as perfect and her figure is shapely. Urvasi has a distinctive feminine charm.

Personality[]

Urvasi is very hot-headed and impulsive. He is easily angered and makes sharp comments. In fact, despite his beauty, Menaka was more popular with men than he was because his personality is not quite as pleasant as hers.

Nevertheless, he is shown to be very protective of his friends. He helped Menaka survive and watched after Shakuntala.

Notes[]

  • Urvasi is said to be one of the most beautiful suras when in female form, along with Shuri and Airavata. The three of them are collectively known as "the three sura beauties".
  • Urvasi is a long-time friend of Menaka and is protective of Shakuntala during the Gandharva clan's troubles in the sura realm.
  • Currygom made a post on her blog on the subject of Urvasi's eye color. She makes it clear that his eyes are pale purple as seen in Ep.38,[1] and not gold as they seem to appear in Ep.2-55 because of the green-blue lighting in the scene.[2]
  • Urvasi would kill nastikas who would rub him the wrong way, however, he chooses his targets carefully and cleans up after, so no one ever learns. [3]

Plot[]

History[]

Urvasi is among the strongest nastikas of the Gandharva clan. He was a close friend of Menaka and protector to Shakuntala.[4]

In D500, Urvasi argued for aiding the Ananta clan in their fight to save Ananta, but was forbidden from doing so.[5]

Urvasi was frustrated with the terrible situation that the clan found itself in after the Cataclysm of N0 and predicted that they would not survive for many years. He stayed behind to face the Taraka clan suras who attacked the clan in N5 and give the others time to escape.[6][7]

The Finite[]

Urvasi is the representative for the Gandharva clan in a meeting held in Taksaka's nest. He is first spotted by Utpala who, noting his frowning face, asks him what his problem is. He revealed that a friend of his had been killed by Utpala a while ago when she tried to get close to Taksaka. Eventually, Urvasi gets so upset, he starts rudely cursing the Azure Dragon and tries to attack her. Utpala hides behind Tak and he is forced to give up. Before leaving, Urvasi warns the Destruction Dragon that he will be in a difficult position if he offers his protection to someone like Utpala. Taksaka follows his advice and chases the other dragon away.[8]

scoffing

(3) Urvasi is shown after the Gandharva clan arrives in the sura realm alongside Shakuntala. After a short conversation between the King and his daughter, Urvasi teases Maruna by stating he is a slowpoke, because he has failed to reached 4th stage after over 1,000 years. He insists he has never seen someone develop so slow in his life. Urvasi escorts Shakuntala to help those in need of their clan.

Chapter 8: The Wavering King[]

Season 2[]

Chapter 20: Grudge[]

2-55 King Gandharva

stubborn king

(5) In D500, when an Ananta clan messenger came to ask for help with saving Ananta, Urvasi is eager to participate. However, Menaka convinces Gandharva to forbid the nastikas from participating altogether. Urvasi tries to argue that the balance between clans needs to be preserved, but to no avail.

Chapter 21: Frozen Tears[]

2-59 Urvasi

losing hope

(2) In a flashback to N5, Urvasi complains that the clan is unlikely to survive for long and suggests that Gandharva should create an ocean. Makara says that it is absurd to expect a god to come to the sura realm to create an ocean, but that they cannot expect Gandharva to create one for them either. He is already busy keeping the area purified, and transcendentals are extremely weakened in the sura realm. Makara demonstrates by blowing a hole in a nearby mountain with Abysmal Bite, which he says could have destroyed an entire planet in the human realm. For Gandharva to create an ocean in the sura realm, what would he have to do in the human realm? Makara tells Urvasi that Gandharva's few remaining friends should stay by his side.

2-60 invading Taraka suras

Taraka attack

(3) Urvasi stays behind alongside Hanuman to hold back the attacking Tarakas while Gandharva makes his decision. Makara stayed behind to convince Gandharva, but Shakuntala is making the situation complicated by her stubbornness.

(20)(25) Sagara materializes Urvasi's form in a transcendental and uses him to fight Agni. Agni notes that she cannot use a living nastika in her transcendental, and deduces that Urvasi must be dead.

Season 3[]

Chapter 36: Another Beginning/Start, Again[]

(7) In a flashback, Urvasi is present while Makara tells a 3rd stage Maruna that the skill Gandharva uses to purify the area of the sura realm is unique to the king of the Gandharva clan, meaning that a new king would be able to use it as well.

Chapter 42: Crossroads[]

3-058 Menaka's death

funeral

(6) In D625, Urvasi is present for Menaka's funeral, standing behind the devastated Gandharva.

Chapter 48: Separation[]

not dead completely

(8) It has been revealed that due to the fact that Taraka's current soul is unable to handle her name, the Taraka clan suras who "were not completely dead" were able to recover their minds. Urvasi is shown among those Taraka suras, which implies he was consumed by Tarakas during the N5 attack.

protector

(1) Since their first meeting, Urvasi has considered Menaka to be her light in this world full of uncultured brutes. Urvasi would kill nastikas to protect Menaka.

Despite having stayed in female form since the beginning of the universe, Urvasi chose to shift to male form so as not to overshadow Menaka with her beauty. Upon Menaka's death, Urvasi pledged to protect Shakuntala as the only light left.
