Jibril Ajes[]

1-06 Jibril 1

unrealistic role model

In the first two seasons, Brilith admires her mother, considering her the greatest magician of them all as well as her number one role model;[1] often emulating her smile before crowds.[2] It is because of Jibril that Brilith wants to become a good magician and learn silent magic; a skill that is required in order to master the Staff of Agni.[3] Jibril is also the reason why Brilith summoned Agni. However, constantly being under her mother’s shadow has led to Brilith developing an inferiority complex. Brilith thinks of her mother often; when faced with various challenging situations, she thinks of what her mother would do.[2][4] In moments where she feels as though she has failed, she apologizes to her mother first and foremost.[5][6]

In the third season, before Brilith’s awakening, when looking at a photo of her mother and father together, she recalls overhearing gossip concerning her mother not caring for her husband and daughter at all, spending most of her time with her summoned god. This memory makes her uncomfortable, and leads her to ask Natasha to take away the picture.[7]

On Jibril's part, despite being said not to care for her daughter much, her last remaining memory after death was of Brilith. According to Laila, she had hoped that her daughter would never learn silent magic.[8]

Once Brilith awakens, she is able to use silent magic exactly like, if not surpassing, her mother’s[9]; finally reaching her goal.

Asha Rahiro[]

3-028 hug

the pretty lies~

When Leez and Asha first arrive in Atera, Brilith is introduced as Asha's only friend and vice versa. Brilith appears to be thankful that she has Asha to discuss issues with, considering it much better than discussing it with the temple magicians.[10] It is considered a sort of mystery as to how the two manage to get along, despite their personality differences, although Brilith reveals how they met to Lorraine, Leez, and Ruche during Asha and Leez's stay in Atera.[11] Though Brilith and Asha were hostile to one another initially, they began to warm up towards one another.

2-178 Brilith and Agni

the ugly truth~

Young Brilith, being alone and distanced from her peers due to her status as priestess, wishes to become Asha's friend due to how differently (rudely) Asha treats her from the others, thinking it is a sign of affection.[12] After hearing pieces of Asha's past, she pities her, thinking that she puts up a cold front but is actually a good person underneath.[13] It seems that Asha also reminds Brilith of her mother.[13] In general, Brilith admires Asha and how much hard work she puts into becoming so skilled;[14][3] though she is largely unaware of the methods Asha used to get this far.

Brilith cares greatly about Asha, enough so that when she was on the brink of death during the attack on Atera in N15, it is the thought of Asha that makes her want to keep going.[15] Asha’s betrayal by the end of season two negatively affects Brilith, so much so that even mentioning Asha’s name sends Brilith into a panic,[16] despite Brilith not remembering Asha.

By the third season, Brilith has reoccuring nightmares concerning Asha (despite not fully remembering her) as her mind slowly begins to accept the truth of what has happened.[17][18] It is the full realization of Asha’s betrayal that contributes to Brilith’s awakening;[19] after which, Brilith no longer has any good feelings toward Asha.

Leez Haias[]

3-101 Brilith and Leez

no one else understands her feelings about the Gods

In the first two seasons of the webtoon, Leez and Brilith do not interact very much. Leez respects Brilith as she is the priestess of Atera, but is surprised at how Lorraine and Ruche can speak so casually—and even rudely—towards Brilith. Leez, after seeing how this behavior does not bother Brilith, becomes convinced that she is a kind person, surprised that she hardly ever gets mad at anyone. After Brilith reveals her past with Asha to Leez and a few others, despite not understanding a lot of the terminology used, Leez is suddenly insecure about how weak her bond with Asha is in comparison to Brilith's bond with Asha.[20][10] On the other hand, Brilith has said that she was "envious... of just the both of you,"[21] to Asha about Asha and Leez's relationship, perhaps meaning that she wished that she could be as lighthearted and open towards Asha as Leez, or leave Atera just as easily as the two of them.

In season three, after Brilith awakens and Leez returns from the sura realm, the two women begin to respect each other and their skills. They also agree on the cruelty of the gods and the suras.[22] Brilith thinks Leez is similar to her past ancient human companions, and does not want her to end up in the same way they did.[23]

Laila Hemawati[]

3-039 motherly touch

the mother she should have had

Laila was close friends with Brilith's mother, Jibril. Brilith admires Laila,[17] and Laila cares for Brilith's safety and wellbeing,[24] having been concerned over Brilith's nightmares, as well as her completely different personality once Brilith awakens after the dream tracking process.[8]

Laila is also aware that Jibril had never wanted her daughter to learn silent magic.[17][8]

Agwen Rajof[]

As a fire priest candidate, she and Brilith have a few interactions. They get along fairly well in the first and second season; close enough for Agwen to set up blind dates for Brilith,[25] and for Brilith to comfort Agwen about her father, Kasak.[26] After Brilith awakens, she is not as close with Agwen due to the memories from her past lives and her conflicted feelings towards the current human race.[27]

Rana Reimia[]

Rana and Brilith were also said to be friendly,[27] but again, once Brilith awakens, she is more distant.

Natasha Ross[]

1-64 getting back the Staff II

no way am I giving this to an amateur

When she first appears in the second season, it is made clear that she has little to no respect for Brilith, and is bothered that Agni chose the priestess as her summoner rather than herself.[28] She is also annoyed that she had to end up giving the Staff of Agni to Brilith.[1] By the third season, thanks to Natasha mellowing out a little, she and Brilith seem to be on better terms; Natasha is somewhat apologetic of her past rudeness to her.[29]

Eiraheeari Catroshife[]

Ari is a fan of Brilith's, having a giant crush on her, though he has no hopes of it being reciprocated.[30]

Gods[]

Agni[]

1-11 Agni draws Brilith

In the first season of the webtoon, Agni is introduced as the god Brilith has summoned in secret, who maintains Atera's fire barrier in her stead. In turn, Brilith maintains his existence in the human realm. Though they are close, their relationship is fraught with tension due to Agni's various playful actions that often stress out Brilith. As Brilith had summoned Agni from a young age, and Agni changed his appearance to match her own, she has more or less grown up with him. Though he is one of the only people (by Brilith's own admission) who have truly opened up to her rather than seeing her as someone above them,[5] Brilith still attempts to conceal her true feelings and emotions around him due to his status as a god. However, due to his laid-back nature that vexes the duty-driven priestess, as well as him feeling like an equal due to the many years she spent with him,[5] Brilith ends up letting out her anger on him regardless. Brilith regrets these slips and usually apologizes immediately after.

2-124 Agni and Brilith

serious discussion

On Agni's part, despite him stressing her out often, he truly cares for her and her wishes, and does not just think of her as his summoner; as seen on multiple occasions.[31][32][15] Despite this, Brilith often wonders if Agni finds his time with her of value, or if he even cares about her.[33] This is not helped by how much important information Agni conceals from Brilith. Though this withholding of information is intended to keep Brilith from worrying and losing vigor,[34] this only makes Brilith feel like a burden to Agni, worsening her self-esteem.

Throughout the story, it is clear that Brilith harbors feelings for Agni, and she finally confesses in the third season. Though she had originally assumed Agni was treating her the way he would treat any other worshipper, after the revelation that he uses insight and undoubtedly knew her feelings, she was now unsure as to whether or not her feelings are reciprocated. Unfortunately for herself and Agni, Agni does not give her a proper response to her feelings.[35]

3-042 anguish

sad betrothed

Once Brilith awakens, recovering the memories of all of her past lives, the truth behind their relationship is revealed; Agni and Brilith's soul are betrothed. However, their relationship is complicated. Brilith's previous incarnation was part of the ancient human race; an older race of humans existing near the start of the universe that was exterminated by the gods and nastikas.[36] Brilith is the sole survivor of this race due to her betrothal with Agni.[37] Agni did not want to cancel the betrothal and let her go, so the gods chose to try and disadvantage Brilith, weighing her down with countless curses that would make each of her lives miserable.[38]

Before the destruction of her race, Brilith wanted to strengthen the ancient humans and make them respected by the other races; an endeavor that Agni fully supported her in.[39] He aids her in the construction and testing of a giant humanoid mecha designed to stop Gandharva,[40] but the testing phase of this experiment goes horribly wrong; it is told that Agni had betrayed the whereabouts of the experiment to the gods, who destroyed the whole area.[39] This event seemingly occurs right before the destruction of the ancient human race, and is likely a major factor in Brilith's frosty attitude towards Agni.

3-133 Brilith and Agni

quite the pair

Awakened Brilith acts coldly towards Agni and has stated that she is uncomfortable with his presence,[41] but it is worth noting that their betrothal remains valid so long as both parties love each other more than they do anyone else.[23] Awakened Brilith herself has stated that in all of her generally miserable lives, her happiest memories are with Agni.[42]

Chandra[]

3-035 chandra vs brilith

Before Brilith awakens, Chandra does not particularly care for her; when she is low on vigor and close to death after being betrayed by Asha, he tells Agni to find another summoner and let her die.[43] Once Brilith awakens, though Chandra finds her more helpful,[44] Brilith detests Chandra thanks to the aforementioned event, and considers him to be a god that values lives based on their usefulness; an ideology she abhors.[45]

Suras[]

Sagara[]

1-76 Sagara and Brilith

challenger approaches

In the first season, Sagara is irritated by Brilith, calling her a "born queen," which directly contrasts with herself, someone who became King of the Ananta clan with a lot of hitches and adversaries.[46] During the attack on Atera in N15, she is vexed by how, even though Brilith is in a hopeless situation, she manages to keep her cool and attempts to fight Sagara anyway. Though Sagara nearly kills Brilith regardless, the situation leaves an impression on her. This is seen later on, when she and her sura subordinates discuss Gandharva's attempts to spare Chaos priestess Teo Rakan while allowing the city to be destroyed. Sagara (thinking of Brilith) notes that a priestess is not the type to choose her own life over the safety of the city.[47]

3-139 Brilith rotting

In the third season, Sagara is aware of Brilith's situation as a surviving ancient human soul, and is fascinated by it. She uses it to taunt and attempt to manipulate Brilith. However, Brilith reacts to these taunts in the same way she had in the first season; with determination and a serious, unemotive expression on her face.[48] As before, this reaction vexes and unsettles Sagara. In both situations, Brilith manages to get under Sagara's skin and ruin her plans.

Awakened Brilith has experienced many (generally negative) encounters with Sagara throughout her lives,[49] making her able to predict Sagara's movements and impulses.

Gandharva[]

3-042 bad blood

pure hatred

They do not actually meet until the third season, and only after Brilith awakens and receives the memories of her past lives. Brilith despises Gandharva, as she had lived on thirteen of the planets Gandharva himself destroyed.[37] However, as Gandharva is key to the universe's survival, she is willing to put aside her grudge for the sake of the universe.[50]

Maruna[]

When first catching sight of Maruna in the third season, an awakened Brilith immediately deduces that Maruna is responsible for the red sky attacks that killed so many.[51] She firmly believes that Maruna is dangerous and should be killed, even after Maruna becomes their ally.[52]
