Kalavinka is a rakshasa of the Garuda clan. She is Maruna and Yuta's younger sister.

Appearance[]

In her 1st-stage human form, Kalavinka appears as a child with slightly tanned skin tone. She has yellow-orange gradient (top-down) chin-length hair, orange eyes, and very thin black eyebrows. Similar to Maruna, she has pale yellow fur covering her shoulders and upper part of her back, and has yellow-orange gradient wings (top-down). She wears a short, dusky orange sleeveless dress that has a zig-zag pattern on the top side, and a black collar with a yellow buckle around her neck. She is usually barefoot. She is nearly as tall as Yuta, even though she is younger.[1]

In her 2nd stage, her outfit was as same as the 1st stage. She appeared to be about 12-13 years old. And her hair was tied in a ponytail.

In her 3rd stage she has a similar appearance. Her hair has grown longer in the back (reaching down to her waist), and she wears earrings. Her dress now has a feathery inner layer under the skirt, and she wears half-finger gloves that extend to her elbows, ending in the same feathery style as the dress. Among the feathers that cover her back, she has two distinctively long plumes that reach from her shoulder blades down to her thighs. She is also on the tall side.[1]

In her 4th stage, she has the same yellow-orange gradient hair. Her side hair is short though, but the back hair is quite long to reach the buttocks. She has big round eyes, and her eyelashes are long, giving an impression of being young and pretty. She wears a long orange slit dress reaching her ankle and orange fingerless gloves. Also, orange flat shoes have been added. Kalavinka is very tall with a height of 184cm. She is strong-built and muscular.

The earrings that she has worn since her 3rd stage, Currygom said, are not just ornaments, but have a special ability. Its ability is still unknown. She has worn a collar, an item of Visnu, since her 1st stage. The collar has a function of suppressing the wearer's sura traits. Kalavinka suppresses her sura traits(her head and belligerence) through this collar. While wearing the necklace, she can take out wings for a while, but cannot take a complete sura form. However, after taking it off, her head(non-human part) returns to the head of a bird with horns, and she can also take the complete sura form. If she takes it off for a long time, she loses control of her own aggressiveness and unwillingly rages and attacks friends as well as foes.

Kala without a collar

Kalavinka took out her collar.

Personality[]

Kalavinka is infinitely kind and cute in front of Maruna and Yuta, but she shows aggressive side to others. Even though she mistook Ran for a Yaksha clan Nastika, she talked down and picked a fight. She also accuses Visnu of being senile. It's the correct way to open collar with the buckle, but she always rips it off because it is annoying for her. After taking off her collar for a long time, she becomes unable to control her belligerence and rampages. Her aggression without the item is very famous even to Nastikas from other races.

But she is warm-hearted. In order to protect Leez and her village, she was hovering the area all night and did not hesitate to fight other suras in N5. When Vishnu said he will go very far and won't come back, she teared up and grabbed his arm "I will find you". But Visnu smiled and said "Don't" and warned that he will be no longer himself when he returns. He said she must not give her mind to someone who calls himself 'Visnu' after Cataclysm. Also, she took Ran, who was suffering from the pain of 'an eye of Punishment', to Yaksha's Stronghold. After she trusted Ran, she was worried that he might leave her, because he was the one that she could properly talk to. After meeting 5th stage Maruna, she tried to put Ran through a passageway that can transcend time, worrying that Ran would not be able to return to his original time.

  • She is hiding her real name, just like Maruna and Yuta. They do not know each other's names, either.
  • She developed to 3rd stage before her brother Maruna, who is very competitive. His frustration upon hearing the news of her development was the key to his own development to 3rd stage.[3]
  • In the finite, Ravana says she is the one least likely to be chosen for the power of names.

Values[]

Kalavinka lived in the Garuda Clan for a very short time and spent much more time with Gods and humans. She says her identity as Garuda has long since faded as a result. She showed she tried to protect Leez(the human), even at the risk of killing her clanmates and of being against the future Akasha wants. Considering the majority of suras dislike or belittle humans, she is quite peculiar.

But when Kalavinka mistook Ran for Nastika, she started a fight, talking down, revealing a hostile attitude towards Nastikas. When looking at Nastika's attitude towards Rakshasa, it's natural that Rakshasas hate Nastika. But this one is also peculiar because most Rakshasas can not speak carelessly to Nastika, for various reasons such as a gap in power, hierarchy, age gap, training, or indoctrination.

Age[]

If Visnu had not took her, she would have been a young Rakshasa above 300 years old at this point. However, with Visnu for a year, she spent a dimension where the flow of time is different. The place is assumed as 'hell'. It is said that 100 years there was equal to only one day in the human realm. Thus, Kalavinka is over 36,000 years old in fact. It explains why she became 4th stage so early, even though she has more power and potential than same stage Maruna, who is top class among Rakshasas.

Fighting Power[]

Kalavinka is currently at stage 4, and even in human form, she is stronger than Sura form of Maruna(4th stage) and weaker than Raltara. She was superior in physical power and could exert more power for a common transcendental. In the same human form, she was stronger than Samphati(5th stage), although it's not applied between sura forms.

She has a special transcendental, which can teleport to the other side of a planet.[4]

While taking sura form, the part of her body is flaming but this is not a transcendental. She can also make her whole sura body flame, like Vinata, but it's considered very dangerous.

When she was in sura form, she emitted white fire, similar to Agni's white assimilation.

Plot[]

History[]

1-74 Garuda's children

The Garuda siblings[2]

Kalavinka is the youngest and only living daughter of Garuda and Vinata. She used to live in the Garuda stronghold along with her two older brothers, Yuta and Maruna, who cared about her deeply.

About 300 years ago, the siblings had to be separated because of the power of the name. Maruna was sent to Carte with Gandharva, Yuta to Isholy with Shuri and Kalavinka to Willarv with Visnu. When they say their goodbyes to each other, they promise to reunite in the future.[5]

During her stay in Willarv, Kalavinka would play with Kasak Rajof, the half-dragon son of Taksaka. He is supposedly the only one who knows of her whereabouts.[6]

Her mother died in N0 and her father slipped into a coma.[7] At the same time, Vishnu disappeared. Curently, both of her brothers are looking for her. According to Taraka's insight she is still in the human realm.[8]

She was last seen on Planet Willarv when she was in her 3rd stage of development.

The Finite[]

At around D873, while Kalavinka was living on Willarv with Vishnu, the Primeval God had asked another one of his friends to accompany him there. Taksaka was angry at Visnu for having called him to help babysitting and they start discussing. Kalavinka grows anxious as their conversation progresses and, eventually, she starts crying, being afraid of Tak. The dragon admits it's a natural reaction to fear him and calms down. Visnu gives him some earrings to make him feel again. The God uses his time manipulation to leave.

Season 1[]

Chapter 6: The Past I Yearn For/Longing for Yesterday[]

(1) Garuda had three friends, whom he entrusted his children to when he could no longer take care of them himself. The oldest went to Gandharva, the middle child to Shuri, and Kalavinka, the youngest, to the primeval god Visnu.

Chapter 8: The Wavering King[]

(7) Kasak Rajof tells Yuta that Visnu spoke of Yuta's younger sister and older brother.

Chapter 9: Rival[]

(4) Yuta, fearing that he'll never get the chance to speak to Kasak after he follows his daughter to Atera, storms into Kasak's room with the intent of persuading the information of his siblings out of him. Kasak refuses to divulge anything. He instead gives Yuta the option to either take his earrings or get lost. Yuta takes the earrings, and as he's leaving, promises Kasak that once he develops, he'll force the information about his siblings out from him.

Chapter 10: The Night it Rained Fire[]

(4) Maruna thinks back to the moment when he parted with his siblings. They all made a promise to grow strong and meet again.

(11) Maruna envied Yuta for going to Shuri and he worried that the planet Kalavinka was going to with Visnu, Willarv, might be dangerous because it is full of magicians. Kalavinka dispersed his fears, according to Visnu, Willarv is a good place to live. Maruna was sad to be separated from his siblings but noted that it could not be helped if it was to hide the power of the name. He urged them to stay strong until they meet again.

Visnu lived among humans, taking care of Kalavinka, but since he got lonely, he called on his friend, Taksaka, to visit. Taksaka stayed in the human realm for a long time and returned to the sura realm just before the Cataclysm. During this time, he married a human and had a son, Kasak, who would have met Visnu.

(13) Having successfully gained Kasak's attention, Maruna reveals to the dragon half that he has no intention of fighting him. Rather, he just wants information regarding Kalavinka's whereabouts. After a few seconds, Kasak remembers her but refuses to reveal anything because he regards Maruna as enemy.

(16) Noticing that the snakes failed in destroying Atera by somehow allowing Agni to be summoned, Maruna tries to escape from Kasak, but promises he'll return to get information on Kalavinka. The desire to find his sister is the only thing stopping Maruna from fighting Kasak properly when the dragon half refuses to let him go.

(19) In D925, a third stage Kalavinka is shown playing with Taksaka's son, Kasak. Vishnu calls for her, since they're already going home. Before she leaves, Kasak askes her if she lives with the primeval god because she doesn't have a family, and offers to give her his dad. Kalavinka explains she has to live away from them, since they'd be in danger if they stayed together. The half dragon relates to her story, stating his life is a constant danger because of his father. She laughs and says her circumstances are more complicated, since they are related to the Power of the Name. Kasak asks her about it, but she refuses to explain any further. Before leaving, Kalavinka requests he never tells anyone about her whereabouts due the fact that her clan's fate depends on it.

Chapter 12: Lies for You[]

1-93 missing siblings

Maruna and Kalavinka

(5) Taraka reveals that both Maruna and Kalavinka are in the human realm to Yuta. She suggests that the two of them would have forgotten Yuta already and are probably searching for each other.

(12) Since the knowledge about Kalavinka's whereabouts which Kasak has was obtained through insight, it can only be reconveyed through oral or written means. Other gods cannot learn it by insight from Kasak.

Season 2[]

(3) Maruna reveals that Garuda collapsed after the Cataclysm and he is working with Kubera in order to find his siblings. Yuta feels that it is dangerous for the three of them to reunite because of the power of the name.

(4) According to Maruna, someone far worse and with no regard for their life will come after the siblings because of the name if they do not come with him now. These are enemies that they have no chance of defeating, and so he wishes to take Yuta and Kalavinka along with the sole desire to protect them.

Chapter 26: Outsider[]

(3) Maruna developed to 3rd stage when he heard that Kalavinka had already hit that stage. He felt frustrated that he would look younger than his younger sister.

In N1, Akasha reveals that Vinata had died and Garuda is now comatose. She tells Maruna that if he does not develop to 4th stage by N5, both of his siblings will die.

(5) Although Yuta had been lying to his siblings about his true name, he proclaims that he never meant to deceive them and all his actions towards his siblings were sincere. Having a family gave him joy.

Chapter 27: Last Resort/Last Stand[]

(3) Akasha ordered Maruna to bring back both Yuta and Kalavinka because one of them might be the reason for Garuda's collapse. The problem began when the realms got separated and the power of the name got cut off in the human realm. According to Akasha, Garuda may wake up if all siblings return. But if that does not work...

Chapter 28: Emergency[]

(1)(6) Perhaps killing them will do the job.
