Lutz Sairofe is a quarter of Yaksha clan heritage. He is the Priest of Creation in Eloth and Ran's older brother. He is the CEO of the Creation brand Artram.

Appearance[]

Lutz appears as a young man with light skin tone, short light gray-brown hair, and purple eyes. He seems to have a preference for dark suits and ties. During part of Season 2 he also wears the Hide of Bondage, which attaches itself to his suit when he tries to modify it.[1] Apart from his hair and clothing style, he bears a strong resemblance to his brother Ran, even though their personalities are very different. Currygom describes him as the most handsome male human character (even though Asha Rahiro has him beat in the "handsome" department).[2]

Personality[]

According to Ran's own account, Lutz was always very caring and kind towards him, even more than his own parents. However, Ran has also said that Lutz is not as nice of a guy as he appears.[3] Lutz rallies other high-ranking wizards to support Asha should the issue of her criminal cases become a problem, and argues that the number of lives she saves and can still save is worth the sacrifice of a few.[4] He also grudgingly agrees with Claude that Leez should be sacrificed in order to keep Yuta on the side of humanity, otherwise the humans will lose the war.[5]

Skills and Abilities[]

2-80 Lutz rescues Ran

bhavati brahma

Being a triple-Brahma magician, he is strong with both hoti brahma and bhavati brahma. He has also been shown to cast fusion spells, such as hoti indra bhavati brahma[6] and hoti brahma bhavati brahma.[7] Lutz is skilled at using creation silent magic, imaginary correction.[8]

Lutz's magician ranking is 23rd, which belies his actual capabilities due to him not fully applying himself during his magic exam.[9] Tilda states that Lutz could easily have gotten an AA rank if he had wanted to.[10] He mentioned having more than enough vigor for his barrier to Siera,[11] which is rather unusual, since even the quarter Laila gets overly tired. He also has enough vigor to fire the Neutral Bow,[12] possibly due to being the grandson of a nastika King.

Lutz placed 2nd in the N7 Fighter Championships. He then did not compete for many years until N19 where he ranked 3rd.

Notes[]

  • His Yaksha heritage is confirmed through the Kubera side-novel, the finite. Unbeknownst to him, his grandmother is the current Yaksha King, succeeding both Shuri, who had disappeared, and Yaksha, who is deceased.
  • Lutz's side business, the Creation brand Artram, is the biggest competitor to Riche Seiran's company, the Creation brand Brimo.[13]
  • The reason he deliberately obtained a lower score than he was capable of in his magic exam was to stay with his brother, Ran Sairofe, instead of becoming the Priest of Creation, which he ended up becoming anyway.[9]
  • Fun fact: Lutz, the most handsome human male character,[2] and Saha On, the human male character with the greatest feminine beauty, are co-priests of Eloth.
  • He gets many neckties as presents. He tries to wear them all, no matter how weird they are. [11]

Plot[]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

History[]

Lutz Sairofe is the oldest child of Hana Lehn and Tan Sairofe and the older brother of Ran Sairofe.

During his magical exam, Lutz intentionally underperformed and randomly guessed the answers to his test because he did not wish to become the priest of creation and expected the higher ranking Lorraine to receive this post. However, Lorraine ran off and Lutz received the position of priest regardless.

In D0, Lutz allegedly saved Ran when their mother attacked Ran as a result of the massive emotional resonance. The mother got killed and Lutz took the blame.

He ranked 2nd at the fighters championship of D7 but has not competed since. Lutz is also the CEO of the Artram creation brand and one of the most skilled creation magic magicians.

His brother would have stayed with him in Mistyshore had it not been for Tan sending his brother off. Crying, Ran tells his dad he would have worked hard for Lutz, and runs off. Hana tells Tan to let Ran go as he must have a hard time adjusting to Lutz, who Ran considers not only as his older brother, but also a friend, teacher, and even parent, leaving him. (3) Lutz wears the Hide of Bondage, which was sent to him by Ran, over his suit and tie. (8) (10) After hitching a ride on Kasak, Lutz jumps off at the Magic Guild and saves his brother from an attacking upani using a weapon he creates on the spot using hoti brahma bhavati brahma. Outside, Lutz and Ran meet up with the other magicians, including Asha.

(3) When Mr. Kasak takes sura form and causes the city's turrets to fire, Siera complains about feeling exhausted and asks someone to take over the turrets for him. Lutz says he'll take them, then has Siera try some breathing exercises to help with his vigor recovery. When Siera complains that it doesn't seem to work, he asks if it works for Lutz, who responds that he usually has more than enough vigor, which only upsets Siera more.

2-99 meeting

meeting

(4) In a meeting at the Kalibloom Magic Guild, Lutz insists that they must get Yuta on the side of humanity at all costs.

(5) After witnessing the aftermath of Yuta inadvertently killing Leez and her regeneration, Ran becomes upset when Lutz hesitatingly agrees with Claude to keep Yuta with them by any means necessary, even if it results in Leez dying repeatedly.

Chapter 26: Outsider[]

2-101 Lutz

paperwork

(1) In another meeting at the Kalibloom Magic Guild, Lutz is critical of Claude for being unable to predict Yuta's departure from the city. He then informs Ran that the AA vote will be held in Eloth. He also looks at a document stating that Asha must be brought to Aeroplateau for an investigation over her use of hoti visnu.

2-106 Lutz and Asha

honest discussion

(6) Lutz shows Asha the document, and encourages her to flee since it looks like she will be involved in another trial. He even offers to do a cover-up for her, since she had saved the city of Atera and she is still needed in the fight against the suras.

(2) Siera is surprised to bump into Lutz Sairofe in the Temple of Earth because he thought Lutz had gone down to the city. Lutz wonders whether to return to Eloth or attend Asha Rahiro's trial in Aeroplateau. Siera advises him to return to his city as he must have a lot of work to do and priests usually do not attend such meetings anyway.

2-108 Lutz

conversation

Lutz thinks back to his earlier conversation with Asha. She acknowledged that it must have been difficult for Lutz to aid a criminal such as herself and stated that she has no regret regarding her decision to stand before the trial in Aeroplateou. However, her reasons have nothing to do with guilt. She claims that Lutz and Ran are very alike, able to walk the path of light despite their terrible past.

Having reached his decision, Lutz learns that the mail delivery ship leaves the next day from Siera.

Chapter 27: Last Resort/Last Stand[]

2-112 unexpected setback

scarf theft

(5) (6) When Claude sneaks aboard the transport ship about to leave for Aeroplateau, he runs into Lutz in the power room. Both are suspicious of each other's motives for being on the ship. Outside, just as Leez is about to board the ship, Lutz yells at Ran to hurry down since the ship is about to take off. The Hide of Bondage that he's wearing suddenly sprouts tentacles which reach out and grab Yuta's scarf, which is still around Leez's neck. Ran can't get them to release so Asha yells at Leez to leave the scarf behind.

Chapter 28: Emergency/Flight[]

2-114 Lutz and currygom

sweating

(2) As Lutz's group travels through a desert en route from Kalibloom to Eloth, Ran asks his brother why the Hide of Bondage grabbed Yuta's scarf. Lutz had just altered the Hide a few days ago, but didn't know the result until it went after the scarf. Ran teases him for failing to alter it twice and calls him incompetent, and Lutz responds by smacking his brother in the head with a ball he just created. Lutz then says that Rana was right when she said that Ran only listens if you hit him. Yuta suddenly appears and hugs Ran (still holding the scarf) from behind, mistaking him for Leez. Lutz and the entire group are shocked at the sight.

Yuta carries Ran to Eloth and so the two of them arrive ahead of Lutz and the rest of the magicians.

Chapter 31: Your Justice and Mine[]

2-135 workers are complaining

alongside Tilda

(1) Lutz and Tilda walk along a mail transport loading dock in Eloth and discuss that Lutz had the route of the transport ship where an explosion occurred altered to Eloth in order to preserve evidence without raising suspicion. Suddenly, they hear a loud bang, and find an angry Yuta wearing his scarf and beating up the mail workers.

(2) Yuta uses a prototype writing pad created by Artram to apologize, he misunderstood the situation because those workers had his scarf. Lutz accepts the apology. On Yuta's request, Lutz explains the problematics of reversing death via hoti visnu. It is one of the most difficult spells and so the price is high. Certain rumors about the spell led to people choosing to put their names on the DNR list to avoid resurrection.

2-136 navigating thru 64 videos

reviewing videos

Lutz claims that the greatest virtue of a magician is to value human life, which is something that Asha Rahiro defiled by committing murder. Yuta states that he envies that humans do not need to eat each other. Such behavior is common in the sura realm and little value is placed on life.

Lutz speculates that Asha is unlikely to get executed since she is extremely talented and potentially useful for society. He recalls a letter he received from Saha On, in which the man disclosed that executing Asha is not the purpose of the conference. Saha asked Lutz to remain in Eloth with Tilda.

Lutz wondered why Asha chose to go to Aeroplateau without having this kind of certainty. When he asked her, she claimed that this was the best choice and admitted to not feeling any guilt.

Since Lutz finds it difficult to predict Asha, he suggests taking precautions. He asks Yuta for help reviewing videos from the malfunctioned transport ship. Yuta watches the videos at an extremely fast pace. He points out that Claude Yui was on board the ship. While Lutz and Tilda are still speculating about Claude's guilt, Yuta breaks the machine and cries uncontrollably. He asks Lutz to use the hide of bondage to modify his scarf.

2-138 endless paperwork

paperwork

(4) Upon succeeding at the modification, Lutz states that something of the sort should only be possible with the consent of Kali who created the Hide. Lutz speculates that this is the case because Yuta is a direct relative of Kali, her son, perhaps. After all, Kali disappeared with many nastika names that Visnu left behind. If she used such a name to become a nastika and then had a son, that son would be a rakshasa with traits of a god.

Tilda asks if this does not make aiding Yuta dangerous, but Lutz is convinced that Yuta is a good person. Ran is comfortable around him, Agni let him enter a city, and by leaving Leez, Yuta proved that he values a human life over his instincts and desires.

Tilda suggests that when those who live long fall in love with those with shorter lives, there is no cure. To Lutz's question, she responds that this is not from personal experience. Lutz emphasizes that they should focus on defending Eloth because they too have a Kubera in the city.

(20) Aeroplateau and Rindhallow overlap barriers which proves to be a wise decision because if better helps them withstand the attacks by an army of suras that follow.

Tilda tells Lutz not to worry and to focus on protecting Eloth. It would be impossible to help Saha, who is in Rindhallow and Aeroplateau, anyway. When Lutz implies that there is a Kubera in Eloth, Tilda asks who that is. To her confusion, Lutz tells her to stop pretending and implies that she must be the Kubera. Tilda vehemently denies this, her name has always been Tilda and she was able to become the magic guild general manager because of her excellent memory which she did not lose even during the emotional resonance of the Cataclysm.

Lutz finds this information strange and wonders who the Kubera in Eloth may be if it is not Tilda. Together, they deduce that the Kubera in Eloth must be Saha himself. This was what allowed Saha to realize that the power of Kubera's name is dispersed. This means all Kuberas are in Aeroplateau and Rindhallow, which is under attack by suras.

Extra: Punishment[]

Punishment D999 lutz

playing waiter

(1) In year D999 in Eloth, Lutz serves as a waiter at a restaurant where Lorraine Rartia and Saha On go on a date. Lutz does this job because he wants to experience his staff's working conditions as their employer. He overhears as they discuss that they will not break off their engagement for the sake of their families.

Lutz sarcastically points out that Lorraine is good at keeping the bachelors hooked. Lorraine denies this and states that although she does not feel attracted to Saha now, perhaps she may come to like him eventually. Saha clutches to this hope and resolves to do his best to impress Lorraine and take on multiple duties and prestigious positions.

On her way out, Lutz stops Lorraine and tells her that she is a terrible person who will get punished for this someday. Lorraine tells him that it is none of his business and he knows nothing about the feelings of others. When she leaves, Lutz states that she is the one who knows nothing about how others feel.

Chapter 34: What Remains[]

2-178 in Eloth

doing paperwork

(1) After the attacks are over, Ran and Leez visit Lutz. Ran explains he has come to Eloth to shop for furniture for his new home because of his upcoming marriage with Rana Reimia, and he stopped by to give his brother a hand while he is in the city. Lutz doubts Ran's abilities and upon looking at some random documents, Ran admits that this goes over his head. Ran wonders where Tilda went and Lutz explains that she left to take some time off after Saha's death. Lutz suspects that Tilda must be dealing with the situation the worst and implies that she must have been in love with Saha. No matter how distinguished the men who approached Tilda, she would always reject them all.

Leez interrupts and starts saying that Asha was the one who killed Saha and asking why they are not investigating. Lutz and Ran seem not to hear her, they continue discussing unrelated subjects. Leez picks up some documents and asks if she can take them. Lutz agrees, saying that these were documents from Saha's desk which were sorted out as useless.

3-022 how mature of you

CEO

At the Eloth Magicians Guild, Ruche bursts into the office wondering why Tilda and Lutz have not boarded the transport ship, and if they plan on using her to teleport them instead. After poking a bit of fun at Ruche, Tilda reveals that they are not going to Kalibloom. Ruche questions it and points out that it was Chandra's orders. Lutz explains that it would be dangerous for him and Tilda to be there, and that he already sent an official letter to Rindhallow explaining that the Tarakas hunt their prey according to their transcendental value. He adds that since the Chaos barrier is the weakest of them all, it would be dangerous for those with high transcendental values to meet there.

Chapter 45: Crime and Punishment[]

3-081 Lutz did it

who killed the mother?

(8) According to Ran, during the Cataclysm, he was attacked by his mother, lost consciousness, and was rescued by his brother who killed the mother. However, Ran's dreams suggest that Ran was the one who killed the mother. Ran got sent to a counselor who worked on convincing him otherwise. Ran feels slight irritation that his brother, although so strong, was unable to stop their mother without killing her.

Chapter 48: Separation[]

(2) As attacks on several cities are underway, Chandra appears in Eloth and asks about the situation. Lutz responds that Aeroplateau is getting attacked and they are planning to overlap the barriers of the two cities. Lutz reprimands Tilda for telling Chandra that he would be more useful elsewhere.

(4) As the cities get closer to overlapping, the attacks of the sura intensify. Lutz stresses that they need to hurry.

(15) As the barriers of Aeroplateau and Eloth finally overlap, Lutz wonders how come the sura stopped attacking Aeroplateou after doing so much damage, The priestess of Light speculates that it may be the same sura from 7 years ago. Tilda suggests that this city must not be the true target of the suras.

3-138 young Lorraine, Lutz and Saha

challenge

(18) In a flashback to a lecture at the Eloth university, a teacher explains that silent creation magic is called Imaginary Correction and that it allows a magician to create things with imperfect designs because it will cover up these flaws. Lorraine Rartia makes up her mind to pass the class without Imaginary Correction, by creating perfect designs. She practices with Lutz and soon manages to get close to his level. She then vows to exceed him.

Spoiler warning!
This article contains plot details about an upcoming episode.

Special Episode 1 - Gaze[]

(1) After the Cataclysm, N1, Lutz saved Tilda Melliot when she got attacked by a mob of half-haters. He then asked Saha On to pretend he was the one to save her because Lutz feared that Tilda might not have a reason to stay after such horrible experiences if not asked by someone she well knows and Tilda has been a servant at Saha's household for a long time. Saha agrees although he advises Lutz to confess his feelings to Tilda.

In the 10th month of N19 Lutz returns from the fighters championship where he lost against Teo Rakan. He claims that he surrendered without a fight. A group of gossipers informs him that Tilda has returned after being absent for 3 years.

Gaze- Lutz and Tilda

gazing

Lutz arrives to greet Tilda in her office. He hints that Tilda was gone because of heartbreak over Saha's death. Tilda reveals that Ran told her about Lutz's suspicions that she was in love with Saha and she asks him not to make assumptions. Ran also told her that, according to Lutz, she does not respond no matter how distinguished the man who approaches. She wonders who this distinguished man is supposed to be.

A series of flashbacks reveals how Lutz has been attempting to get Tilda's attention over the years, asking her to become a servant in his house instead of Saha's, asking her to be his own bodyguard, and even asking her about her opinions on dating younger men.

Lutz apologizes to Tilda and attempts to talk his way out by pointing out that Tilda has been avoiding romantic involvements. Tilda tells him that he has no place giving relationship advice and that he is just as clumsy at expressing his true feelings as Ran. Lutz asks what she is hinting at by those true feelings but Tilda refuses to answer and takes her leave.

Special Episode 2 - Terms of affection[]

Terms of affection - Lutz and Rana

chilling

(1) In the 11th month of N7, Rana Reimia and Lutz are relaxing on a beach in Mistyshore while Ran is out swimming, and they discuss things entirely unrelated to academics, politics, or romance. Rana asks Lutz what type of girls he likes. He answers that the girl should be smart, decisive, capable, she should feel like a teacher... and she should have soft ears that perk up when surprised. These ears would betray her feelings even if she would want to hide them. Since Lutz feels embarrassed, he pretends to fall asleep while saying this.

Special Episode 8 - The South Pole Expedition[]

(1) In year N22, Chandra choses 7 people to gather Taraka fragments for him, Lutz among them. Each of them had a choice to either go to the land of unending winter, or to go to the south pole, or to personally tell Chandra to bug off.

Only Tilda was brave enough to go for the third option. Ran and Mirha chose option one. And Lutz ended up taking part in an expedition to the south pole alongside Siera Sies, Ruche Seiran, and Clari Utas.

Since Ruche is a big fan of Lutz, she takes care to carry him over all difficult obstacles. Siera speculates that since suras of the Gandharva clan are prominent in the region, the one with the fragment is likely to be among them. Lutz recalls that a Kinnara clan sura that looks like an elephant was also seen in the area and hopes that they do not encounter it. He jinxed it.

(2) The party realizes that the ground is shaking because of the elephant-shaped sura above them. They speculate that it must have died during the Cataclysm, which is why it did not get moved to the sura realm, and the Taraka fragment must be acting as a power source for the carcass.

The Taraka sura catches Siera and his party members then rescue him. The group criticizes Siera for his poor vigor management. Suddenly, Siera's scarf catches on fire, Lutz and Ruche use Hoti Varuna to put it out, and Agni teleports over. Siera attempts to help Agni battle the sura, only to end up getting saved himself. The sura is defeated and the party safely returns.
