Saha On, is a quarter and, during Season 1 and most of Season 2, is the #1 ranking AA magician on planet Willarv,[1] the Eloth Magicians Guild Branch President, Presiding Judge of Magic, Chancellor of Eloth University, and Priest of Light. Currygom describes him as the most beautiful male, in contrast to Asha Rahiro who is deemed the most handsome female.
Appearance[]
Saha resembles a young man with very pale skin, strawberry blond hair, and pale green eyes. He typically wears an asymmetrical white suit edged with white fur around his neck, across and down his back, and down his left side, along with maroon pants and brown shoes. His haircut also appears asymmetrical, with a longer length down his left side.
He is considered to be exceptionally beautiful. He once was forced by his fiancée to enter a beauty contest, and won it in his usual outfit without anyone noticing anything was wrong.[3]
Personality[]
Saha seems to be unassertive, but has a strong sense of justice. Others see him as a "softie" as well as someone who would never tolerate deliberate murder. While he is logical-minded and prudent in his thought processes and decision-making, he has a soft spot for matters concerning Lorraine.
Skills and Abilities[]
As a triple-Surya magician, Saha is strong with both hoti surya (scanning hidden areas as well as long distances) and bhavati surya (destructive light attack and paralysis). In his introduction in Season 2, he uses the fusion spell hoti surya bhavati surya to kill a pair of low-rank suras ~500km away without moving from his desk, which is no small feat.[3] Later in the same season, Saha uses the same fusion spell to paralyze a 5th-stage Garuda rakshasa who is attacking from an extremely high altitude.[4]
Notes[]
- He needs reading glasses to read small writing.[3]
- He signed the DNR (Do Not Resurrect) List; hoti visnu does not work on him.[3]
Plot[]
History[]
In the year D989 the families of Saha, age 30, and Lorraine, age 10, arranged their marriage. Ten years later, in a diner in Eloth, Lorraine tells Saha that she still does not think about marriage, but she is unwilling to break it off for now because it would cause problems with their families. Saha learns that she prefers masculine men who are more accomplished and so he resolves to accept several high-ranking positions he was recently offered, such as Eloth University's Dean of Magic, Magicians Guild President, and Judge of Magic.[5]
Currygom once mentioned a love triangle in her me2day (now closed) between Lorraine, Saha, and Lutz Sairofe during their university days.[6]
According to Brilith Ruin, Saha (unnamed) was the magician who single-handly operated all of Eloth's turrets during the N0 Cataclysm, saving the city from annihilation.[7] He briefly took Eiraheeari Catroshife under his care after the boy lost his parents in the Cataclysm.[8]
In the year N11, he warned Laila Hemawati about allowing Asha Rahiro to take her magic test in Rindhallow because in this city, the third test's difficulty depends on the results of the first two tests. He suggested that she take the test in Eloth or Mistyshore instead. Apparently, he was concerned about her test partner getting injured or worse.[9]
At an unknown time in the past, Saha argued for the passage of the Stolen Goods Law at the Magicians Meeting (unfortunately to no avail).[7]
At yet another unknown point in the past, Saha participated during Asha Rahiro's trial for causing 29 deaths via magical accident, during which he demanded the death penalty the entire time.[2]
Season 1[]
Chapter 4: AAA Magician[]
(2) One of the late documents that Laila puts off from reviewing thinking they're frivolous requests is a petition from Saha On that Rindhallow decline testing an applicant named Asha Rahiro due to the danger she risks to her partner and the exam itself. He suggests that Asha be tested at either Eloth or Mistyshore.
(5) Of the silhouettes of the four AA magicians on Willarv, Saha is seen on the second right.
Chapter 10: The Night it Rained Fire[]
(1) In exposition by Brilith, it is revealed that Saha single-handedly saved the city of Eloth from destruction during the Cataclysm by taking over and operating the city's turrets just by himself.
(11) When Airi comments that the Magic Guild President, Ruche, isn't at the Temple to help as Sagara and her army attack the city, Lorraine vows that if she fails to oust Ruche from her position, as punishment to herself, she will finally get married the following year to Saha.
(15) When Agni tells a dying Brilith that he will only give her her life back if she has a reason to live, Saha is one of the few people Brilith could differentiate, but couldn't recognize, as she combed through her memories in search for a reason to live.
Chapter 11: The Power of the Name[]
(1) In order to extort an expensive fighter's suit for free from Lorraine, Airi reminds her of her promise to marry her fiance if she fails to oust an extremely popular Ruche from her position as Atera Magic Guild President.
Season 2[]
Chapter 24: Taboo[]
(5) At the Eloth Magic Guild, Saha receives the documents sent by Riche Seiran and asks Tilda, the General Manager, if there was still no word from Lutz. Before she could answer, a messenger burst in to announce there were a pair of upanis spotted at a village ~500km (~310 miles) away. After asking himself if he has enough vigor left, Saha uses hoti surya bhavati surya to immediately eliminate the threat without moving from his desk. When he wonders why hoti asvins would have no affect this fatigue, Tilda jokes that he could ask Asha to use hoti visnu to return him to before he became tired. He rebuts that he already signed the DNR List years ago. Tilda asks if he regrets the verdict of involuntary homicide that Asha received, but he only states that the case is closed and even if new suspicions arise, Asha would manage to talk herself out of it.
As soon as he reads the documents Riche sent him, he jumps up, orders Tilda to cancel an evening meeting, and declares that they are going out to use the Human Search System.
(6) Inside the Human Search System, Saha puts in a search for the year N11, which shows the location of 35 humans still living, but the rest are deceased by that year; presumably the initial search was for a larger number of people. Next, he searches the year N13, which shows only 19 were still living. When he begins his search of the year N16 (present time), Tilda yells at him to get out now since his time is about to run out.
In the lounge, Tilda chastises him for taking a huge risk in a space that would disappear with him if he remained past the time limit. She asks why he couldn't just ask another AA to use the search system for him, and he replies that he can no longer trust any of them, including his fiancée, Lorraine, and wonders which one was Asha's accomplice in the homicides.
Chapter 27: Last Resort/Last Stand[]
(1) Tilda expresses her concern that Saha seems to have his priorities out of order—he should be focused on helping Rindhallow instead of obsessing with Asha's homicides. He assures her that this issue concerns the safety of humanity as well. When Tilda protests that Asha is not currently killing anyone, Saha warns her that he thinks she will begin killing again because some of her targets are still alive, and when the last one dies, something disastrous will occur. He needs to locate her targets using the Human Search System, but Tilda reminds him that he cannot access it again for another year and he is not willing to ask the other AAs for help. Saha responds that there will be a new AA soon, and Tilda must get the search system ready for Ran Sairofe's arrival in Eloth.
Chapter 28: Flight/Emergency[]
(4) Tilda informs Saha that Ran Sairofe has passed through Eloth's checkpoint ahead of schedule without using hoti vayu, with the rest of his party still traveling through the desert. They locate Ran in the East City Outskirts eating lunch, causing a commotion among the nearby crowd of people. Tilda explains that Saha has been sleep-deprived waiting for Ran's arrival, and asks him why he didn't go directly to the Magic Guild upon his arrival. Ran explains that the vote wouldn't be for a while, and he wasn't properly dressed to greet everyone. Tilda informs him that voting is already over, and he is now the #2-ranked AA. Saha then tells him that for his first job as the new AA, he has someplace he needs to go...
(5) Claude Yui (while possessing the transport staff member) tells Asha that she is not the only one who entered this war willingly, nor the only one who received an oracle, and that among those who did, one chose her as their enemy. The three silhouettes shown (as those who received the oracle) are Saha, Laila Hemawati, and Mirha Simon.
Once Ran is inside the Human Search System, Saha instructs him to search for the name Kubera in the current time. Yuta attempts to use insight on Saha but cannot seem to get it to work the way he wants. Saha remarks that ideally the Kuberas would be in Eloth. The search reveals that there are three Kuberas who are located in Rindhallow, Eloth, and just outside Aeroplateau.
(6) Saha tells Ran that he needs to make another search from 12 hours ago, which reveals that the Kubera currently outside of Aeroplateau was still in Kalibloom at the time. Saha deduces that the Kubera is on a transport ship, and Tilda remarks that this must be the same ship Asha is on. Saha is surprised that both the murderer and the victim are on the same ship, and considers it lucky if the two are unaware of each other. Once they return to the Eloth Magic Guild, Tilda explains that no motive could be found for Asha's 29 homicides during her trial, but because of a recent tip, Saha has learned that all 29 victims, as well as many more, had the real name Kubera, and Asha will likely attempt to kill the remaining three. Yuta, who accompanied Ran, suddenly vanishes.
Chapter 29: Isle of Myths[]
(1) As the Priest of Wind, Mirha Simon, reviews some documents on Leez, her personal assistant asks if she really intends to cooperate with Saha.
(6) At the Aeroplateau Magic Guild, the branch president, Lilia Shu, tells Saha that his transport ship was not scheduled to arrive so early, asks him if he altered its departure date, and remarks that there is still some time before the Magicians' Conference. Saha, accompanied by Ran, replies that the conference date does not matter because he needs to get to the Temple of Wind immediately.
Chapter 30: Falling Petals[]
(3) Saha, Ran, Natasha Ross and Erin Florussi are discussing Claude's surprise appearance in Aeroplateau. Claude states that he had no intention of coming to the city, but now that he is there he offers Saha his help in Asha's upcoming trial. Saha, while reviewing his case against Asha, has no intention of talking to any of the other AA magicians besides Ran until the trial has ended. Claude specifies that he was offering his help after the trial, volunteering as an executioner.
(4) On Aeroplateau, a large number of halfs are showing up for Asha's trial. Lorraine is confused with their appearance given that the residents have a poor perception of halfs in this city. Ruche Seiran and Erin Florussi state that Saha is the one sponsoring the halfs to act as witnesses.
(5) Lilia Shu informs Saha that Mirha will be heading Asha's defence during the trial. Urha Simon, Mirha's father, will also be seated beside his daughter and would probably support her. Mirha's involvement suprises Saha, but he believes that how they will build their defence is obvious. He informs Lilia she will be a sufficient witness in the case in regards to events on the planet Carte. Lorraine interrupts their conversation, questioning Saha as to the purpose of the halfs attending the trial. Saha asks his fiancée if she is acctually as clueless as she appears. He tells her that when Asha approached him about receiving permission to use the Human Search System, he refused to give it. Somehow Asha did receive the search results and used them to carry out several murders. His conclusion is that one of the other AA magicians (including Lorraine) must have provided those search result for Asha. Saha informs Lorraine that he must separate his own personal feelings for her from that of everything else, so that he may act as a leader. Leaving, he invites her to the trial so that she may have her questions answered.
During the trial, Saha listens to Erin Florussi as she makes the prosecutions case. Afterward asking Mirha if the she wishes to refute any of the accusations made. Mirha accepts all charges against Asha, presenting her defense of how Asha committed murder with the intent of sparing the lives of others who may have ended up dying due to red sky incidents. Saha dismisses the defense proposed by Mirha, informing the courtroom that there are additional individuals Asha had murdered. The large group of halfs that Saha is sponsoring are brought in. Saha states that they are the family and friends of halfs that Asha had killed; these incidents were not brought to court before since the killing of halfs is not considered murder. With them as witnesses, Saha begins to discuss why Asha had used hoti vishnu 1000 times and how she had obtained her extraordinary magical abilities.
(6) Saha explains while Asha's divine affinity was thought to be 515, the value is actually 10,515. An old device was used to measured Asha's divine affinity and only displayed four digits. He states that most magicians do not have a value so high, causing most individuals to not suspect her to either. A rare example of a magician who had an affinity greater than 10,000 was Jibril Ajes. Saha continues, saying that divine affinity is set at the individuals birth and that any increase through training is usually negligible. God-level items can increase the users divine affinity, but cannot be used while their affinities are being measured. He tells the courtroom that most people, given this information, would suspect that Asha had a high value set from birth. Lilia Shu is brought to witness, she states that Asha did not meet the standards of having a divine affinity of at least 300 for admittance to Carte's only magic school Eos. Mirha is asked to confirm this, Saha telling her to be truthful and that others may confirm this if she does not. Lilia brings forth Asha's hoti vishnu usage record, noting that she had used the spell in quick succession at certain points in time. This statement causes a half who is there as a witness to break into tears; Saha grabs her hand in order to comfort her. The halfs then collectively state that their loved ones who Asha killed had the name of the god of earth, Kubera.
Saha believes that if halfs were recognized as humans then these incidents would have been known about sooner. He does not wish to bring up the rights of halfs at this time due to many individuals attending having strong resentments towards them. Saha does bring up the link between Asha's increase in divine affinity coinciding with her killing halfs with the name of a god. He asks the defense if this is also for the greater good of society. Lorraine interrupts before Mirha can respond, accusing Saha of bringing forth only an assumption that those with a god's name can increase magical power without any evidence to back it up. Saha confirms that he cannot provide evidence, but his assumption is not baseless. He recounts how he had received an oracle from the god Surya during the cataclysm. The god of light had told him that the god Kubera was in danger of disappearing. He informs the court that his belief is that all those with the name Kubera have the god's power dispersed amongst them and that by practicing magic against them would cause your own magical abilities to increase rapidly. Saha also questions the defense why Asha is seemingly helping the suras kill those with the name of a god when they claim that she is working for the greater good. He proposes that if Asha truly wished to help people, then he would have brought the Kuberas into the barriers of a city rather than killing them so that she may increase her magical prowess. Saha states that it is impossible to know which god Asha received an oracle from, if she even did. He concludes the trial by saying that the gods only give choices and that Asha must now live with the consequences of her choice.
(7) Saha announces that the result of the vote is death by means of hoti yama. The first stage of Asha's execution would begin soon after, during the time of earth. Her final statement would be heard 12 later at the time of creation. He concludes that if Asha can provide a reason for her not to be executed, then the hoti yama will be reversed. Otherwise she would die within another 12 hours. After the verdict is given, Ran asks Saha to help locate Leez. He does find her and informs her of the effects of hoti yama. Ran questions Saha as to why he would tell Leez this. He answers that while the death spells usage is not common knowledge, Leez is no longer a common individual and deserves to know. At the time of creation, Claude tells Saha that he should have been the executioner for Asha. Saha brushes him off, asking that he be quiet. When Asha is revealed to not have changed significantly after hoti yama is cast, Saha is not surprised.
Chapter 31: Your Justice and Mine[]
(3) Both Leez and Mirha approach Saha in his room, the former asking to go to Rindhallow and the latter asking him to stop her from going. Leez continues, telling him that she wants to join the forces at Rindhallow; plus, she has two god-level items and can use both hoti kubera and bhavati kubera. Saha accepts that with Leez's credentials, there is no questioning that she is a skilled fighter. He then says that as a Kubera, she would normally be given protection, but due to her ownership of the Sword of Return, which would nullify the suras' amazing regeneration skills, she would be a valuable asset to the support forces; even if she simply throws the sword around. Saha then thanks Leez for volunteering to fight when many top-ranked magicians would prefer to avoid it, and then tells her that there is no need to travel all the way to Rindhallow; all she needs to do to get there is to stay where she is.
(4) In Aeroplateau, Saha leads a meeting attended by Claude, Lorraine, Mirha, and Claude's sister, Airi Yui. He tells them that, according to the most recent data from the Human Search System, there are three Kuberas remaining—in Rindhallow, Eloth, and Aeroplateau—and that he will keep their identities secret for now. Saha tells the group of his plan to have Aeroplateau (the only major city that can move)'s barrier overlap that of the the city targeted by the suras, Rindhallow (the weakest of the three cities) in order to make both cities more secure. Airi expresses concern for the citizens of Aeroplateau, and Lorraine questions if it was wise for Saha to have implemented his plan on his own. Saha replies that there was no time for discussion or debate because of the urgency to drive away the suras now, before they target other cities. Airi asks if citizens not involved with the battle will be able to evacuate, and Mirha explains that it is not possible because of the time constraint. Saha then tells the group that it is their duty to keep casualties low when they are in charge of their respective zones.
(9) After Asha is released from her prison cell, she has a video chat with Saha, in which he reveals that he has a theory on why she disappeared for three years in the past; based on how, after using hoti visnu about 1000 times she had started using it sparingly, and that she had used the spell right before her siappearance, Saha concludes that in the three years she was missing, she simply did not exist. He further notes how odd it was that no one tried to look for someone as famous as her when she disappeared, not even him, striking it up as a side effect of the spell. Saha further states that losing her existence was the spell's penalty. He then reveals that Asha's executioner, after looking after her lifespan, told him that she was originally supposed to be dead by N13; hoti visnu had managed to extend her lifespan, her three years of disappearance adding three more years. Asha confirms that his theory is correct, remarking on Saha's high status, power and talent, sense of justice, and long life as a quarter; a true natural-born hero. If he was truthful about receiving an oracle, she would have even less of a chance of defeating him. Saha says he did not lie about the oracle, and that doing so would be blasphemy. Asha then asks him what his point is in showing her the magic usage records. He surmises that she only has a limited number of hoti visnu uses left before she disappears again. She confirms this, but says that she cannot tell him the exact number she has left. Saha then finally discloses the reason why he has given her conditional parole; as he did not want to keep Asha near the barrier stone, as she could vanish unexpectedly, he would make her fight the suras—but in a way that she cannot harm humans. Saha tells her to go through the door opposite her that, when instructed to, which will transport her into the middle of the suras. Asha will have a choice to either repent her crimes and fight or to run away, but if she joins the suras, he will kill her using bhavati surya. Asha accepts the conditions and says she will wait until she is given further orders.
(10) At Sky Tower, Urha Simon asks Saha if he is really fine with taking control of the tower in spite of his frail condition, with Saha replying that it is the city's most powerful turret, and operating them is what he does best. Urha then mentions the backlash they received for moving the city, and asks him to consider revealing Agni's approval of their operation to quiet the discontent. Saha tells him no, since it would be better for humans to take their own actions rather than act on a god's decree. This is the world that Surya had hoped for, plus Agni would prefer that humans not obsess on his every word. This prompts Urha to praise Saha for being such a great leader for Willarv and bringing order to the world after the Cataclysm. When he speaks of Saha's strong sense of justice, Saha questions it as he mentions his inability to interrogate Lorraine for aiding Asha because of his personal feelings. Urha says that it is a regrettable situation, but he does not blame her since she was Asha's mentor and was always supportive of her. But now that she knows that the data from the Human Search System was used for murder, there is no way she would help Asha now. Meanwhile, outside the locked room where Asha is being detained, Lorraine, who is wearing a white fur cloak, uses hoti brahma bhavati brahma to create a key card, and opens the door, freeing Asha. When Asha points out that she could be killed by Saha's long-range magic if she steps outside, Lorraine says she came prepared and removes her coat, which she explains is made of fur from Yaksha, and will block any long-range light magic attacks. Wearing the cloak will also make her unable to be located by magical means, only by direct view. Asha thanks Lorraine for being on her side in spite of her engagement to Saha, and Lorraine tells her that she feels she is making the right choice since Asha is not a bad person, and she is sure that this is all for a greater purpose. Asha tells her mentor that yes, she made the correct choice.
(10) Brilith is brought to a room inside the Sky Tower in which she would stay while Agni fights. When she is inside, Agni expresses his uncertainty at leaving her alone, with Saha reassuring him that he will do his part in safeguarding her. Agni admits that he should have met Saha sooner, but he did not expect that the humans would step up the way they did once they learned that the suras were after humans named Kubera. He regrets not talking to Surya when he was briefly in the god realm dealing with Brilith's lifespan. He then tells Saha that he will not encounter him again once he dies, saying that this is a compliment and a blessing. Saha thanks him. Agni then decides that he will take over the Death barrier, which is the weakest of the four barriers, instructing Saha to tell the Priest of Death to go out and fight.
(18) At the Sky Tower, Saha quickly wipes away his tears as a trio of magicians report on their search of the sky using hoti surya. They were unable to find anything in sura form, but one caught a glimpse of only a wing tip of something moving very fast. Saha reports that the sura using the transcendental is too high above the cities to see, and the turrets are attacking a different sura from the Garuda clan, likely the one who caused the red sky incidents, who is fast enough to avoid the attacks. When one magician marvels that a sura using Hiding could be so fast, Saha tells her no, another sura is riding it and is probably the one cloaking them, and both are drawing the turrets away from the sura above. One of the magicians suggests informing Agni, but Saha says that if Agni goes that far up, it would weaken the barrier. And the problem of sending Mr. Kasak is that the sura using Hiding would use its transcendentals against him. After a brief pause, Saha tells the magicians to inform Laila, the Priestess of Darkness, to use her last resort, and tell her that he is sorry he could not be of more help.
(20) In Eloth, Tilda tells Lutz to stop worrying, but Lutz reveals that Saha left a Kubera here for him to protect, because in case Aeroplateau and Rindhallow are destroyed, at least one Kubera could survive. Tilda asks who it could be, and Lutz replies that he knows the truth and that it is her. Tilda denies it, saying she has always been Tilda, and explains that the reason she has her position is because of her excellent memory. Lutz realizes that he misinterpreted Saha's message, but after Tilda explains the Human Search System results by both Saha and Ran that she witnessed, Lutz deduces that the Eloth Kubera is none other than Saha himself. Lorraine tells Saha that she needs to speak with him. Saha asks if she is alone, and when she replies yes, he opens the door. He looks in horror as Asha suddenly appears behind Lorraine, grabbing Lorraine and pushing her to the side as Asha delivers a killing blow to Saha.
(22) Ran and Rana arrive at the scene of Saha's murder, Rana quickly using hoti asvins on him and Lorraine, who managed to survive because of her clothes which have resistance against magic attacks. Ran says that he will freeze Saha so Asha can resurrect him, but Lorraine says it would be useless since he signed the DNR list long ago. They then find a letter in Saha's pocket in which he describes his actions and plans in case he is no longer able to help, explaining that he used hoti surya bhavati surya to paralyze the sura attacking the barriers, and that Chandra and Mr. Kasak should execute a joint attack to kill it in one hit. He apologizes to Lorraine for not being able to keep his promise. Rana asks Lorraine if she saw who attacked them, only for Lorraine to break down in tears. She remembers Saha telling her that even if her relatives pressure her to get married, she should live freely, and that he will wait for her decision, no matter how long it takes.
(24) Airi tells Ruche that she must immediately inform Saha that Asha has escaped, and that she will stay here, treat people, and look for Leez. Ruche teleports away with hoti vayu. When Ruche arrives, she makes an uproar when she sees that Saha is dead. When the situation is explained, she demands to know where Lorraine is, and is incredulous that they let the number one suspect go, saying that, of course, nobody would suspect the person engaged to Saha; but then this was the person who ran away from marriage and defended Asha in her murder trial.
(26) At Aeroplateau's Sky Tower, Chandra overlooks Saha's body, noting that since he is now dead, their situation has become dire. Later, at the pillar of light, Asha tells a confused Leez that she had killed Saha due to him being one of the people with the name of Kubera, and that Leez was responsible for it, as despite Leez being an easier target, Asha had opted to kill Saha instead.
Extra: Punishment[]
(30) In a flashback to the year D999, Saha is dining at a restaurant with Lorraine. The former mentions their engagement that has been going on for ten years, but Lorraine points out that since their families arranged it when she was only 10 years old, she really did not think about it at the time. After Lorraine has some playful banter with Lutz (who is disguising himself as an employee in his own business to check out staff working conditions), Saha asks if she has no interest in him or marriage, to which Lorraine says that it wasn't like that exactly; she just struggled to see him as a man. Saha then asks how he can change her view of him, further questioning if the problem is his appearance. Lorraine tells him that it is a combination of looks, personality, and actions. Saha asks her that if she will change her mind if he works on these things, or if they should just break the engagement. After thinking about the problems it would cause with their families, and that Saha could find a younger woman later, Lorraine tells him there was no need to break things off, and that she might change her mind. Saha determinedly states that he would make an effort, telling Lorraine of several offers he received for high positions such as the university's Dean of Magic, Magic Guild President, and Judge of Magic. She encourages him to accept them all in order to improve his public image.
After Lorraine leaves, Saha sits alone at the table, deep in thought.
Season 3[]
Chapter 39: The Value of a Life[]
(2) Inside Brilith's dream, Saha greets a shocked "Laila", asking what she is doing there; noting that there are few people like himself who would recognize her without her mask. Laila is confused as to why Saha does not appear as a black silhouette like everyone else in the dream. Saha then asks her if she is there to use the Human Search System, which Laila affirms.
(3) As "Laila" enters inside the Human Search System, Saha reminds her to conduct her search quickly. As she searches for the people named "Kubera," the system begins to report an error and the entire room begins to disintegrate. As Laila is unable to exit, a bleeding Saha forces the door open, telling her to hurry and save Brilith.
(4) Saha advises Laila that things will become a nightmare from this point on. As a nearby shadowy figure rushes to attack him, Saha grabs a pole and pulverizes it, telling Laila that his wounds show the amount of time he has left; as if Saha is returning to the time of his death. He then tells Laila to pay attention since there will be many obstacles on the way to Brilith as more shadowy figures appear, carrying weapons.
After nightfall, Laila and Saha arrive outside a place called Ronpang Farm - Creation brand material delivery specialists. Saha reveals that the house in the distance is the location where Asha committed her final murders of N12, and confirms that it was the three unsolved cases. He adds that one of the three did not have the name Kubera, and that they were people who were doing a background check on Asha on Saha's behalf. Saha informs Laila that if Asha and Brilith are left alone here, then the dream loops back to the beginning; suggesting that Laila should somehow stop Asha and then wake Brilith. He notes that he is unable to help, since he will disappear soon. Laila asks why, if he is just a dream, then realizes that maybe he is not, since she has never heard of a defined and independent entity like him during dream tracking. He responds that he had earlier suspicions, but now he is sure—"Laila" should do a better job of studying about dream tracking. Saha confirms that he is not a dream, but "Laila" is. He tells Claude that he cannot fool him with bhavati yama. "Laila" now has a masculine physique and purple hair. Saha then asks him if he feels responsible for his death, since he prevented Asha from killing Laila. Claude stammers that it was not what he intended, since he thought that Asha would go after Leez. He then turns his head as someone in the house screams.
Chapter 48: Separation[]
(17) In a flashback, Saha tells Lorraine never to learn silent magic. She reprimands him for saying that, as he had learned it already. He tells her that something about silent magic users scares him, that something about himself scares him, even. And that was why he admired those who had not learned silent magic.
(18) In a flashback to a lecture at the Eloth university, a teacher explains that silent creation magic is called Imaginary Correction and that it allows a magician to create things with imperfect designs because it will cover up these flaws. Lorraine makes up her mind to pass the class without Imaginary Correction, by creating perfect designs. She practices with Lutz and soon manages to get close to his level. She then vows to exceed him. Saha supports her resolve.
