Shiva is one of the four primeval gods, and his jurisdiction is Destruction. He disappeared after the Cataclysm along with Visnu.[1] He was the former patron of the 11th month, but that honor has gone to Marut since the year N0.

Appearance[]

Shiva is quite tall in comparison to the other three primeval gods. His eyes are never shown. He has long, black hair, and is usually shown wearing a scarf and pants with various other clothing and a cape, or shirtless. He apparently sprouts black wings when he is in combat, such as with Kali[2] or Visnu.[1]

Personality[]

Shiva's attitude seems largely pessimistic and dismissive. During his brief appearances, he seemed quick to give up and to assume the worst, as well as heavily critical of the stupidity of others.[3]

Skills and Abilities[]

Special Episode 24 - In My Delusions (1) Erasure of Existance

Manasa getting erased

Practically nothing is known about Shiva's powers, other than that the Sword of Return could not kill him,[2] and that some sort of altercation happened between him and Visnu in the year N0 that caused both to disappear from the universe.[1]

However, one of the few things known about him is that he holds a transcendental called Erasure of Existence that shatters the name and soul of the being erased. Due to the complexity of the conditions of its usage, the transcendental is rarely used.[4] The outcome of the transcendental is final and cannot be reversed even with the rewinding of time. [5]

Notes[]

  • Currygom mentioned in the
    1-99 primeval gods
Author's comment at the end of Episode 3-58 that in Shiva's appearance in Episode 99, he was sitting on a rock, since otherwise, he would not have fit in the scene with the other primeval gods.[3][6]
  • Shiva's role in the creation of the universe was to swallow the destructive counter-force from when Brahma created the Universe. Thus, he keeps all this destructive energy within himself. If he is killed, this energy is released and the Universe gets destroyed. That is why he has been living alone since the beginning.[7]
  • The red dagger that used to get passed on among the priests of destruction on Willarv has been inferred to be Shiva's item.[8]
  • Currygom has stated that Shiva will not be appearing in the main storyline so there is no point in including him in theories about the upcoming story.[9]

Plot[]

History[]

1-99 primeval gods

The primevals

Shiva is one of the four primeval gods, the other being Kali, Brahma, and Visnu. They all have the right to manage names[6] and they themselves possess names that are superior, free from the chains of cause and effect. Due to this, they have existed for the duration of multiple universes.[10]

Brahma created the current universe as well as many before that. Shiva's role is then to swallow the destructive counterforce[7] and Visnu takes on the role of naming the creations.[6] While Kali actively plots to destroy the universe, Visnu alone takes actions to prolong its lifespan, with Brahma and Shiva helping a little bit at the beginning.[3]

1-42 Shiva and Kali

Kali trying to kill Shiva

At some point, Kali created the Sword of Return for the purpose of killing Shiva, but it proved ineffective and so she discarded it.[2]

Along with Visnu, Shiva disappeared after the Cataclysm of N0, which resulted in the loss of the destruction attribute and all related magic. Before leaving, Visnu divided the realms, confining each race to a separate environment.[1] Since Kali is severely weakened,[10] this leaves Brahma as the only actively operating primeval god.

Season 1[]

Chapter 6: The Past I Yearn For[]

1-38 Shiva and Visnu

The Cataclysm

(3) When the Cataclysm ended, Visnu and Shiva disappeared. Since their influence over the world was so great, some say that their disappearance itself was the Cataclysm. Before leaving, Visnu confined the gods and suras into separate realms.

(7) Long ago, Kali created a special sword with the intention of killing primeval god Shiva. Although the Sword of Re can inhibit the regenerative abilities of gods and suras, it proved ineffective against Shiva and Kali threw it away in disappointment.

Season 3[]

Chapter 42: Crossroads[]

3-058 Menaka and Primeral Gods

(6) In a flashback to the distant past, Shiva, alongside Vishnu and Brahma, meets with Menaka. Menaka tells the Primeval gods that she made a deal with Vishnu due to which she now carries Gandharva's sins but also possesses the power of persuasion with which she will be able to reform Gandharva. The three Gods know nothing of this deal and conclude that Menaka got deceived by Kali.

Due to her unbreakable deal with Kali, Menaka can no longer fulfill the role the primeval Gods gave her at the beginning of the universe, now it is up to Gandharva. Shiva asks Menaka if she regrets this outcome.

He also informs Menaka that she will die before she can completely reform Gandharva. He is upset with Menaka for her bad negotiation abilities and walks away complaining about how stupid their creations are.
